Liability Insurance - Almost every state requires that a car is covered with liability insurance. You can check our State Requirement page for details about your area but you should plan on having at least the minimum and probably a good deal more. A common suggestion is to have liability coverage in the range of 100/300/50 (see below for explanation) since liability insurance protects you from having to cover the cost of injury or damage resulting from an accident. Without proper liability coverage you might find yourself with a large financial burden placed upon you.

  • 100 = $100,000 of bodily injury per person.

  • 300 = $300,000 of coverage of bodily injury per incident

  • 50 = $50,000 worth of property damage per incident
